About Us

We currently reside in Marshville, North Carolina, and our home is literally on the NC/SC state line. We moved here about a year and a half ago, when Mel accepted the position of pastor at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Formerly, we lived just outside of Raleigh, NC, where Mel was beginning doctorate work and Heather was teaching English, and taking courses for a Masters of Education degree. Mel is still pursuing a PhD, and hopes to complete this degree within the next year. Heather has taken a break from classes - both as a teacher and a student - to primarily care for our little gift from the Lord - Lydia Damaris Winstead. We are very thankful that God has given us this option. Lydia is now 16 months old and we are amazed at how much she has grown and learned. We have watched our tiny baby turn into an energetic little girl, eager to try new things daily! Although we miss being closer to friends and family, we are excited to see God's will accomplished in our lives here.
